Jaime Poblete

Catalogue

Jaime Poblete (Santiago de Chile 1981), proposes a pictorial exercise, in which the chromatic starting point determines an accumulation impulse. It does so by reflecting upon the surface and its opening towards space. It overlaps gestural situations which, after being repeated like a mantra, constitute a monochrome body that impregnates its support. Colour acts in a dual-mode for transparency and matter by forcing different saturation points. It insists on pouring several elements over the image surface: Its flow affects the limits of shape and plasma.

Certain importance is developed when it comes to its process, its manipulation, and its later reworked information. It is encoded and it establishes a specific dialogue with space. The combination of colors for the support concludes the artist’s formal strategy. There is a bright pathos that migrates, thus leading out to an image that persists as a reverberation.
